If pronoun is a word that is used in place of a noun. The important pronouns are: 1. Personal Pronouns: The words I , you, he , she, it, we & they are called personal pronouns. They take the place of words for people, animals, places or things. Ex. (a) My name is Ravi. I am 20 years old. (b) This is my book. It is expensive. Here are some more forms of Personal Pronouns.
We use subject form as a subject in a sentence. Object form is used as an object in a sentence. We use possessive pronouns to talk about things belonging to people. Ex. 1. I am a student. (subject form) 2. You teach me English. (object form) 3. This book is mine. (Possessive form) 2. Interrogative Pronouns: The words who, whom, whose, what & which are called interrogative Pronouns. We use these pronouns to ask questions: 1. Who broke the window? 2. Whom is he talking to? 3. Whose is this umbrella? 4. What is the time? 3. Demonstrative Pronouns: The words this, these, that, those are called demonstrative pronouns. They are showing words. Ex. 1. This is my house. 2. That is a mountain. 3. These are cows. 4. Those are horses. 4. Relative Pronoun: The words who, whom, whose, which and that are called relative pronouns. We use relative pronouns to say something that describes the person or things we are talking about or shows which one we mean. Ex. 1. This is the boy, who stands first always in the class. 2. I have a friend whose brother is a pilot. 3. Here is the shop which sells computer equipment. 5. Reflexive Pronoun: The words myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, itself, themselves are called reflexive pronouns. They refer to the person or animal that is the subject of the verb. Ex. 1. I made this food myself. 2. Hari has hurt himself. 3. We organize the party ourselves. 4. The door opens itself.
